NetFront™ Browser from ACCESS Puts Mercedes-Benz Internet Surfers in the Driver’s Seat

Browser Seamlessly Integrates with Company’s Award-Winning COMAND APS Multimedia System to Provide Unrivalled Web-Based Information Services

Oberhausen, Germany, – June 14, 2011 – ACCESS Europe GmbH, — a subsidiary of ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, announced today that it is to supply its state-of-the-art NetFront Browser to Daimler for use in its Mercedes-Benz C-Class and SLK-Class cars worldwide.

Seamlessly integrated with the on-board Mercedes-Benz COMAND (Cockpit Management and Data) APS multimedia system, NetFront Browser is a key component of the new infotainment technologies appearing in the C-Class and SLK-Class car series from spring 2011, and which will gradually be introduced in other model class series.

With the COMAND APS multimedia system, drivers are able to access the Mercedes-Benz Online service, which has been specially designed for rapid loading, ease-of-use and the presentation of relevant information while on the road, e.g. access to weather information and a special destination search via Google.

The integration of the NetFront Browser with the COMAND APS multimedia system enables additional web functions that enhance the driving experience. For example, weather information for the destination can be displayed on the COMAND APS multimedia system for use while on the road. Users also have complete freedom to surf any part of the web for additional travel resources or other services. In addition, NetFront Browser includes support for Adobe® Flash® which provides users with a rich and compelling user experience.

“We are delighted that Daimler has chosen our NetFront Browser for its Mercedes-Benz car division, one of the most respected marques in motoring worldwide,” said Neale Foster, VP Global Sales, IA at ACCESS. “The NetFront Browser is the most widely available embedded Internet browser in the world today because it’s specifically designed and optimized to deliver high performance in resource-constrained environments which makes it perfect for in-car navigation and control systems like the COMAND APS multimedia system.”
