- ACCESS NetFront™ Browser & NetFront Messaging Client To Enhance Sharp’s New Vodafone Handset
Tokyo, Japan, – September 11, 2007 – ACCESS™ CO., LTD. today announced that its NetFront™ Browser and NetFront Messaging Client are featured in the new Sharp 3G broadband (HSDPA) handset that Vodafone Group, the world’s largest mobile community, unveiled on September 10.
NetFront Browser is an optimized browser offering mobile users a full Internet experience, including the same rich Internet services enjoyed on desktops. Supporting almost any OS or CPU, NetFront Browser features low power consumption, easy customization and a broad range of plug-ins. It has been deployed extensively in beyond-PC markets throughout the world, including mobile phones, digital TVs, set-top boxes, mobile handhelds, and more.
“NetFront Browser enables mobile access to any Web site for PCs, as well as Vodafone’s Mobile TV service and its extensive menu of dramas, comedies, live news and sports, animation, music and other video programming,” said Toru Arakawa, ACCESS CEO, president and co-founder. “The browser has been installed throughout the world in more than 440 million devices, including handsets produced by Sony Ericsson, Samsung and other leading makers.”
Nearly every 3G handset sold in Japan is embedded with ACCESS software. The company has helped Japan transform itself into a highly advanced mobile society, where 3G mobile phones are the dominant voice and data transmission devices, providing users with an enhanced mobile experience that embraces broadcast TV and radio; music downloads; e-wallet, e-credit card and e-rail pass capability; and a host of other useful functions.
Vodafone’s new handset, the 880SH, supports both W-CDMA and GSM, and is compatible with HSDPA for high-speed data transmission, enabling full access to rich Web content. The handset, developed mainly for the European market, has recently been announced as part of Vodafone’s Christmas 2007 lineup.
“ACCESS is one of the world’s dominant developers of software solutions for mobile handsets, while NetFront Browser is the most widely adopted mobile browser in the world,” said Arakawa. “ACCESS is facilitating the timely launch of a new, high-performance handset in the global market. We will continue to support handset makers in the development of high-performance devices for use throughout the world, thereby contributing to the spread of 3G and enhanced mobile experiences.”
