- ACCESS’ NetFront™ Deployments Surpass 400 Million Worldwide
Tokyo, Japan, – September 4, 2007 – ACCESS™ CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile and beyond-PC markets, today announced that total commercial deployments of NetFront™ products, notably NetFront Browser for mobile handsets and information appliances, surpassed 400 million worldwide at the end of August.
NetFront Browser, a powerful and versatile Internet browser released in 1996, offers high performance in environments with constrained memory and CPU resources like mobile phones and embedded devices. It has a proven record of installation in handsets from major device manufacturers throughout the world, including Nokia, Motorola, Samsung Electronics, Sony Ericsson, and LG Electronics. NetFront Browser has also been installed in millions of digital TVs, set-top boxes, mobile handhelds, game consoles, automobile telematics systems and many other Internet devices representing a wide variety of markets.
The growth rate for total installed NetFront products has been phenomenal. After exceeding 100 million installations in October 2003, the 200-million threshold was reached by September 2005, and the 300-million milestone a mere 15 months later, in November 2006. NetFront deployments have increased rapidly since then, with the 400 millionth deployment achieved in just nine months. NetFront products currently can be found in 1,233 different device models throughout the world.
“ACCESS is a pioneer in the development of products with the latest capabilities, and has been very capable in anticipating and responding to the needs of carriers and device manufacturers,” says Toru Arakawa, ACCESS CEO, president and co-founder. “Clients want what we have to offer – a fact borne out by the doubling of NetFront deployments from 214 million to more than 440 million in less than two years. ACCESS looks forward to maintaining its leading role in the creation of a more fulfilling digital experience for users worldwide.”
ACCESS is playing a central role in the drive to achieve faster, more advanced mobile solutions in the highly sophisticated Japanese market, where functions such as “One-segment” mobile digital terrestrial broadcasting have gained enormous popularity in recent years.
