ACCESS NetFront™ Browser the Solution for KDDI, SoftBank

Tokyo, Japan, — May 22, 2007 — ACCESS CO., LTD. announced today that its NetFront Browser mobile communication software solution has been chosen for an array of new handsets being released this summer by leading Japanese mobile service providers KDDI and SoftBank Mobile.

ACCESS’ NetFront Browser DTV Profile Wireless Edition will be installed in all seven of the new “One-Seg” — or one-segment digital terrestrial broadcasting — and digital radio mobile handsets to be released this summer by KDDI.

One-Seg broadcasting to moving targets is one of the most exciting new technologies in Japan today. One-Seg technology is specifically designed to maximize battery power, provide efficient spectrum utilization and allow for improved reception in high-speed vehicles, making it possible for users to watch One-Seg TV broadcasts from their cell phones while walking or even in a moving automobile. Since its debut on April 1, 2006, demand for One-Seg services has continued to grow.

Mobile communication stalwarts like KDDI have responded to this demand by introducing new handsets capable of making the most of One-Seg technology. ACCESS has contributed to growth of the One-Seg market by fast-tracking delivery of its NetFront Browser DTV Profile Wireless Edition, leveraging advanced BML browser capability to meet the needs of service providers and end-users alike.

KDDI also will be installing NetFront Messaging Client, a comprehensive messaging client designed for resource-limited devices, in a total of 15 new handsets, 10 of which will support the carrier’s new “wrapping mail,” a decorated e-gift-card service that debuts in June.

Two other ACCESS products — NetFront SMIL Player, playback software for multimedia content, and NetFront Sync Client — have been selected by KDDI for most of the new handsets. NetFront Sync Client is a client library that complies with OMA SyncML DS v1.1.2, v1.2. Also supported are SyncML DS for Data synchronization and SyncML DM. NetFront Sync Client supports setup of device-side software from a remote server, as well as installation of software patches or upgrades provided via PIM applications.

Reinforcing the popularity of the NetFront Browser, ACCESS also revealed that SoftBank Mobile’s 12 new handsets come standard with NetFront Browser, of which 10 handsets will be offering the full-browser function. ACCESS and SoftBank Mobile signed a software co-development agreement in October last year.

NetFront Browser is the most powerful and versatile Internet browser available in the mobile communications sector. Specifically designed and optimized to deliver high performance in resource-constrained environments, NetFront Browser supports almost any OS and CPU and offers low power consumption, easy customization, and a broad range of plug-ins. NetFront Browser has been deployed in millions of Internet devices throughout the world including mobile phones, digital TVs, set-top boxes, mobile handhelds, game consoles, automobile telematics systems and many other Internet-capable devices.
