ACCESS and PLANEX Agree on Licensed Development and Marketing of Networked Appliance Solutions Incorporating NetFront™ Living Connect

Tokyo, Japan, – May 15, 2007 – ACCESS CO., LTD. and PLANEX COMMUNICATIONS INC. today reached a comprehensive licensing agreement on the use and integration of ACCESS’ proprietary middleware – NetFrontLiving Connect – in intelligent networked appliances to be developed and marketed by PLANEX.

NetFront Living Connect is fully compatible with the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) version 1.5 standard, which ensures smooth integration with ACCESS’ NetFront Browser, used widely in mobile phones and intelligent networked appliances. By combining the advanced compatibility and other features of ACCESS middleware with the networked appliance know-how of PLANEX, the two companies expect an intelligent appliance embedded with Living Connect and compatible with DLNA 1.5 to be introduced in a timely fashion.

PLANEX will initially develop a NetFront Living Connect-embedded appliance that complies not only with DLNA 1.5, but also with DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol) for digital rights management of content transmitted between digital devices. PLANEX also expects to develop a variety of other DLNA 1.5-version intelligent appliances, including for its Home-server Network Hard-Disk System.

ACCESS will demonstrate the NetFront Living Connect-based system for digital television networking at the 10th Embedded Systems Expo, which will be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) from May 16 to 18. The demonstration will take place at the ACCESS booth (E 44-50) in the East Hall.
