ACCESS and SOFTBANK MOBILE Sign Joint Development Agreement in Japan

TOKYO, Japan – October 5, 2006 — ACCESS CO., LTD. (TSE:4813) and SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. today announced that they have signed a joint development agreement in Japan. Under the agreement, NetFront Browser, ACCESS’ next-generation browser for mobile phones, and its email software, NetFront Messaging Client, will be deployed in SoftBank 910T by Toshiba as well as SoftBank 810SH by Sharp and SoftBank 811SH by Sharp. The three models will be released on October 7. SoftBank 910SH by Sharp and SoftBank 810T by Toshiba and SoftBank 811T by Toshiba will be released in the near future.

Under the agreement, ACCESS and SOFTBANK MOBILE will jointly develop software for SoftBank Handsets. This will enable mobile device manufacturers to adopt endorsed software based on SOFTBANK MOBILE’s specifications, accelerating product development and time to market. The agreement also supports the efforts of new mobile device manufacturers to enter the market.

The NetFront Browser enables SoftBank Handsets to realize numerous functions. The “PC Site Browser” displays PC websites, while the “Live Monitor” shows real-time information on a stand-by screen. “S! Cast” is an automatic content delivery service. In addition, the “NetFront Messaging Client” supports the handsets’ delivery of rich mail functions by providing “Arrange Mail” and “Feeling Mail,” both of which are new functions in “S! Mail.” The companies plan to gradually roll out software for services aimed at next-generation mobile phones.

“This agreement with SOFTBANK MOBILE paves the way for a diverse range of services for next-generation mobile phones,” said Toru Arakawa, CEO and co-founder, ACCESS. “We are delighted to support mobile device manufacturers’ efforts to shorten development time whilst accelerating the market launch of new products.”
