NetFront™ SMIL Player Adopted as Multimedia Player for KDDI’s New “EZ Channel Plus” Service

TOKYO, Japan – September 21 2006 — ACCESS CO., LTD. (TSE:4813) announced that ACCESS’ NetFront^™SMIL Player, the multimedia content playback software has been adopted by KDDI as the browser for its new multimedia content transmission service “EZ Channel Plus” launched today.

KDDI’s “EZ Channel Plus” is a newer version of its current multimedia content transmission service “EZ Channel,” which features TV and magazine style content. NetFront SMIL Player complies with the SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) specifications recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The software enables easy playback of numerous multimedia formats using various combinations of text, image, sound, moving images, animation, and various file types, making it ideally suited for a sophisticated multimedia content service such as EZ Channel Plus.

In addition to a mail software for mobile phones, NetFront M-IMAP Client, ACCESS has provided various products that give full and total support for diverse range of multimedia services for KDDI’s mobile handsets, “au”, such as NetFront DTV Profile Wireless Edition, a browser that supports BML (Broadcast Markup Language) and is compatible with One Seg, Japan’s digital terrestrial television broadcasting for mobile phones, and Media:, which allows users to switch to digital broadcasts from phone or email.
