- ACCESS’ NetFront™ Browser Integrated in NEC Handsets offered by AT&T Wireless
Tokyo, Japan / Fremont, CA, USA – August 12, 2003 – ACCESS (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a global provider of mobile content delivery and access technologies, announced today that its NetFront® v3.0 browser has been integrated in NEC America’s 515 High Definition Mobile+ (HDM) handset. AT&T Wireless will be the excusive U.S. carrier of this NEC handset.
NetFront v3.0 is the latest version of the most widely deployed and actively used embedded Web browser in the world. NetFront is a modular, scalable, feature-rich, WAP 2.0-compliant embedded browser that supports a wide variety of non-PC Internet devices ranging from mobile phones and PDAs to automobile navigation systems.
“NEC and ACCESS have a long history of collaboration in the mobile marketplace and we consider NetFront browser technology one of the best available, so it was not difficult to decide to work with them for this deployment,” said Noboru Sakata, general manager of the Wireless Engineering Division at NEC America. “We look forward to additional mobile deployments with ACCESS in the United States.”
“I am very pleased that our browser has been embedded in the NEC 515 mobile phone for AT&T Wireless’ service,” stated Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS. “Internet access from mobile phones is practically ubiquitous in Japan and is getting close in Europe and the rest of Asia, and we expect the United States to experience significant growth in that direction as well. This deployment is proof of ACCESS’ commitment to help build a fully networked and mobile society.”
