- ACCESS Showcases DLNA VidiPath Media Sharing for Android at 2015 International CES
Oberhausen, Germany, − January 6th, 2015 − ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that it will demonstrate its NetFront™ Browser BE, built on the Chromium Blink browser engine, now supporting the DLNA® VidiPath™ Remote User Interface (RUI) guidelines at 2015 International CES (demo suite at the Bellagio Hotel, January 6th – 9th, Las Vegas).
The DLNA VidiPath guidelines enable consumers to securely stream their favourite TV shows and movies from their service provider set-top box (STB) to devices such as TVs, smartphones, tablets, game consoles and more within the home.
The ACCESS solution provides Android device manufacturers with a VidiPath-ready client, enabling secure playback on Android devices. This, in turn, allows operators to develop and deploy a seamless multiscreen user experience (UX) across devices while complying with the US FCC mandate for standardized and interoperable media sharing. The added support complements the integration of the guidelines in ACCESS’ media sharing solution NetFront Living Connect 3.1 announced at IBC 2014.
Dr Neale Foster, COO and VP Global Sales TV, ACCESS Europe, commented: “By integrating the DLNA VidiPath requirements with NetFront Browser BE, we allow Android device manufacturers to enable their devices to access operators streaming services for Hollywood studio content. Operators will also be able to offer consumers access to personal recordings on STBs seamlessly on authorized devices.”
Android devices enabled for DLNA VidiPath provide consumers with an easy solution to access PayTV content without any additional intermediate devices from the service provider. The guidelines can directly support the full range of subscriber HD programs, movies, DVR content, channel guides and other premium features, all with a familiar operator branded user interface from their service provider.
NetFront™ Browser BE is an advanced HTML5 browser featuring high stability on embedded platforms. NetFront Browser BE is an ideal solution for operators looking to deploy new generation hardware platforms and support the latest HTML5 standards on high performance DTVs, set-top boxes, game consoles and automotive infotainment systems.
NetFront Browser BE leverages the ACCESS expertise deployed in over 1 billion units worldwide.
DLNA VidiPath™ adds secure content delivery for service providers, which gives consumers the full subscription viewing experience and user interface across all of their VidiPath™ Certified devices. DLNA VidiPath is leveraging DTCP-IP as a link layer protection and HTML5 as a User Interface technology. VidiPath also provides for remote diagnostics and optimizes the consumer viewing experience by including support for Moving Picture Expert Group Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH), an adaptive delivery technology for high-quality streaming regardless of bandwidth variations on the home network. A Networked Device Power Save feature enables devices certified to the VidiPath Guidelines to meet today’s tighter power regulations and voluntary energy efficiency initiatives.
