- Bearport Publishing’s new WOW! Books for Kids iPad® app makes it easy to discover and read 150+ high-interest nonfiction eBooks
New York and Sunnyvale, California, December 14, 2011 – Bearport Publishing announced today the release of the Bearport WOW! Books for Kids iPad® app, which provides parents and kids with access to more than 150 nonfiction eBooks on high-interest topics that appeal to children, such as animals, dinosaurs, sports, and scary places.
Bearport’s critically-acclaimed books for schools and libraries, such as Amazing Dinosaur Facts, Gnarly Skateboarders, Spooky Cemeteries, Race Horses, and The Beaver’s Lodge, are now available for the first time for kids and parents in the app store. The WOW app features beautifully designed nonfiction titles that are packed with large, full-color photos and illustrations. The app also features many award-winning titles including Children’s Choices, Teachers’ Choices, and National Science Teacher Association Outstanding Science Trade Book selections.
“With this iPad app, parents and their kids can browse the great selection of children’s titles together and decide what they want to read,” said Kenn Goin, president and publisher, Bearport Publishing. “The titles focus on engaging topics children love, such as animals and spine-tingling thrillers, and feature spectacular photography that piques the interest of children and encourages reading at an early age. They’re perfect for kids to read on their own or with their parents.”
The Bearport WOW! Books for Kids in-app bookshelf features visual thumbnails that help kids from pre-kindergarten to the 8th grade navigate to pages they want to view, and readers can zoom into content using two-finger pinch or double tapping. The app includes selected free titles and samples of every eBook, with special sale pricing on different titles to be offered on a regular basis. In addition, the app also supports portrait and landscape modes.
The app’s digital storefront allows users to browse for titles by subject category or keyword search, and buyers can preview titles prior to purchase. The in-app virtual bookshelf allows users to quickly access previously purchased titles in one convenient location. This digital storefront is powered by the ACCESS™ Digital Publishing Ecosystem from ACCESS CO. LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets.
“With the ACCESS Digital Publishing Ecosystem, Bearport Publishing can offer enhanced digital publications for mobile and tablet devices that can be easily discovered by parents and children,” said Clyde Harris, vice president, Sales and Business Development, ACCESS Systems Americas, Inc. “Now parents have another way to share Bearport’s award-winning books with their kids by simply downloading free books and samples or purchase titles within the in-app bookshelf.”
