ACCESS Announces “Direct to Consumer” Initiative to Help Publishers Enter Tablet and Mobile Marketplace

ACCESS Teams up with Industry Experts to Promote White Label eBook Storefront Solutions for Mobile Platforms

Frankfurt, Germany, – October 12, 2011 – ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, announced today at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2011 a global initiative with four digital business consulting entities to promote and advance the acceptance of digital publishing on tablet and mobile devices. The team of industry experts will form strategic technology relationships with content publishers seeking to develop a digital publishing presence.

“Many book and content publishers are realizing the importance of developing ‘Direct to Consumer’ digital strategies that drive new revenue streams, especially in the rapidly expanding tablet and mobile markets,” said Clyde Harris, VP, Sales and Business Development, Content and New Markets, ACCESS Systems Americas. “Historically, developing such storefronts has been cost prohibitive to the publisher. ACCESS has developed a white label, end-to-end, storefront solution that affordably allows publishers to quickly establish a digital presence on the iOS and Android platforms.”

The seasoned experts, who are recognized in the digital publishing field as leaders in the emerging mobile device market, include:

  • Barney Allan, Digital Content Associates (DCA), London, U.K.
Allan, founder of Digital Content Associates Ltd, London, has more than 27 years of publishing sales experience across diverse markets and sectors. He has held senior international sales positions for Thomson and Reed Elsevier companies. Over the past five years, he has acted as contractor and consultant for leading digital content vendors Ingram MyiLibrary, Safaribooksonline.com and Recordedbooks.com.
  • Alex Jucius, São Paulo, Brazil
Working in mobile and content markets for more than 10 years in Latin America, Jucius was a Director in Telefonica and Abril groups developing digital content distribution projects targeting end-user customers.
  • Richard Knox, Aspire Digital Online, Chicago, U.S.
With more than 20 years of publishing experience spanning academic, trade, special and educational markets, Knox is a thought leader in the digital space. Knox specializes in helping publishers to develop and drive new digital content revenue streams. Previously he was Director of Publisher Relations for Follett Digital Resources, and U.S. Publishing Sector Specialist for U.K. Trade & Investment.
  • Andrew Malkin, New York, U.S.
Malkin brings an extensive sales and marketing background accumulated over 20 years in publishing and digital media at Ingram International, eBay, Rodale, Random House, HarperCollins and Time Warner Book Group.
