- ACCESS Collaborates with Philips to Enhance uWand Remote Touch Technology
IBC, Amsterdam, – September 8, 2011 – ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that it will be jointly demonstrating unique new enhancements to Philips’ uWand point and 3D gesture control functions, including seamless access to digital content on DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) home networks, enabled through the integration of ACCESS’ NetFront™ Life Browser and NetFront™ Life Connect technologies. The joint demonstrations will be presented in Philip’s uWand stand (1.A81) at IBC 2011, which runs from September 8th to the 13th in Amsterdam RAI.
NetFront Life Browser includes advanced user interface features that are optimized for gesture-based devices making it an ideal supporting application for uWand. The joint demonstrations will include a look at some of these features, including Unified Navigation, which integrates open web pages, visual bookmarks, and history into one screen. Unified Navigation enables uWand, users to quickly flick through open web pages, bookmarked pages or even their browsing history, enabling a remote touch and gesture-based browsing experience that is extremely fast, intuitive and completely unique.
Additional demonstrations will present NetFront Life Browser’s gesture-based web clipping and scrapbook features, which allow uWand users to point and clip content from the web. NetFront Life Connect, a DLNA Certified® application, will be used to demonstrate how the uWand remote touch interface can enable users to access and interact with the digital content on any DLNA Certified® device in their home network.
“The integration of NetFront Life Browser with Philip’s uWand direct pointing and 3D gesture technology provides compelling enhancements to the highly intuitive and natural, gesture-based user experience delivered by uWand,” says Navin Natoewal, General Manager Philips Media Interaction. “And NetFront Life Connect helps extend uWand’s user experience to the entire home network while also providing users with ready access to the digital content on the network. The addition of these technologies helps Philips provide device manufacturers and OEMs throughout the world with a solution that can dramatically enhance the functionality of their products.”
“We’re very pleased to be able to work with Philips to help enhance their exciting uWand direct pointing and 3D gesture technology,” said Dr. Neale Foster, VP of Global Sales IA, ACCESS. “NetFront Life Browser was designed for tablets and mobile phones.
