- HyperPanel Lab Selects ACCESS NetFront™ Browser for New HbbTV Solution
International CES, Las Vegas, US, — January 6, 2011 — ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that HyperPanel Lab, the digital-TV solutions provider, has selected ACCESS’ NetFront™ Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition for its new HyperPanel HbbTV solution. HyperPanel HbbTV provides manufacturers of set-top boxes (STBs) and integrated TVs with powerful and efficient HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV)-ready solutions that enable a wide range of Internet-based services for satellite, terrestrial and cable HD TV.
HyperPanel HbbTV integrates NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition with HyperPanel Lab’s Vmos embedded operating system to create a solution that supports the presentation of web pages and services using broadcast and broadband connections. HyperPanel HbbTV complies with the unified European HbbTV standard, which enables the simultaneous use of broadcasted video (DVB) and broadband (Internet) and provides consumers with access to video content and interactive services in a smooth, uniform and consistent manner. For example, broadcast video services can contain links to web-based interactive services, augmenting traditional TV with access to additional relevant content.
“We chose ACCESS’ NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition to power HyperPanel HbbTV because it provides high functionality while requiring minimal resources, making it ideally optimized for embedded environments,” said Laoreato Santonastasi, CEO of HyperPanel Lab. “This optimization means that our ACCESS-powered solutions deliver the functionality and flexibility to meet future customer and consumer requirements for HbbTV services. This is an important development, as it helps HyperPanel Lab meet its goals of providing manufacturers of STBs and integrated TVs with the best in advanced TV solutions.”
“We’re delighted that HyperPanel Lab has selected ACCESS’ NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition for its HyperPanel HbbTV solution,” said Dr Neale Foster, vice president of sales and business development at ACCESS Systems Europe. “ACCESS has a wealth of experience in designing powerful solutions that run in resource-constrained environments, including TV solutions that are ideal for set-top box and integrated TV deployments, making NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition the perfect solution for HyperPanel Lab.”
