ACCESS Software Deployments Accelerate on All Three Chinese 3G Mobile Handset Standards

Tokyo, – October 22, 2009 – ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile and beyond-PC markets, today announced that its software technologies, including NetFront Browser, are being deployed on a growing number of handsets for all three mobile 3G standards in China, including CDMA2000® EVDO, TD-SCDMA and W-CDMA.

NetFront Browser is the most advanced, versatile and powerful full Internet browser for mobile and beyond-PC devices. NetFront Browser supports almost any OS and CPU, and offers low power consumption, easy customization and a broad range of plug-ins. NetFront Browser’s ease of customization makes it the ideal mobile browser to support the variety of new 3G handsets from leading manufacturers being introduced by China’s telecommunications operators.

Among the 3G devices introduced in China this year, NetFront Browser has been deployed on the SH6120CT handset by Sharp which uses the CDMA2000 EVDO standard, on Yulong Telecommunication’s CoolPAD F69 which uses the TD-SCDMA standard, and on the S7120U by Samsung and the SH0902C by Sharp which use the W-CDMA standard. All of these handsets have already begun shipping into the market. Additionally, NetFront Browser will be deployed on numerous handsets from major handset manufacturers, such as ZTE Corporation and OKWAP as part of the millions of CDMA2000 EV-DO customized handsets expected to reach the market in the near future.

Full-scale 3G services were launched in China in May 2009 and are expected to accelerate the number of mobile users in the country. According to Thinkbank, a Beijing-based market research firm, the number of 3G phone shipments in China almost doubled in the June-July 2009 timeframe※1. Further, 3G handset shipments are expected to grow at a CAGR of 55% between 2009 and 2014, according to ABI Research.

“ACCESS started operations in China seven years ago,” said Pierre Suhandinata, President & CEO, ACCESS China. “Currently, approximately 500 employees based in our Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai offices provide support to Chinese telecommunications operators and handset vendors to develop and launch handsets locally. We are pleased that our technologies have been deployed on numerous 3G handsets in the first year of China’s 3G services. ACCESS is committed to helping the Chinese telecommunications industry continue to develop.”

ACCESS’ NetFront products, including NetFront Browser, have been deployed in over 800 million devices worldwide, representing 1,899 different device models.
