NetFront™ Widgets Featured on Samsung Pixon, Full Touch Screen 8-Megapixel Camera Phone

Tokyo, Japan, – February 9, 2009 – ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile and beyond-PC markets, announced today that the company is providing its comprehensive widget solution, NetFront^™ Widgets, for the Samsung Pixon (Model name: SGH-M8800), the new touch screen phone with 8 megapixel camera manufactured by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. The Samsung Pixon comes with ACCESS’ NetFront Widgets player pre-installed, and is available in select European countries. It is the first deployment of ACCESS’ NetFront Widgets for a handset targeted at global markets. ACCESS’ market-leading NetFront^™ Browser is also pre-installed in the Pixon, providing an advanced, feature-rich mobile browsing experience thanks to its significant ease of use and smooth browsing capability.

Widgets are mini applications that are downloaded and then displayed in small GUI windows on the screen of a handset. Widgets are appealing to users because they can be accessed without having to open the handset’s browser, and can automatically acquire and display frequently updated, user-specific information from the Web, such as weather forecasts and stock prices.

By adopting ACCESS’ NetFront Widgets, handset manufacturers and operators can obtain a solution that includes a widget player and content development tools, allowing them to accelerate development and delivery of widget services. Content providers can leverage a development environment based on open, standard W3C Widget 1.0 specifications, facilitating development of widget content.

In Japan, the full widget solution is already being used by SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. and WILLCOM Inc., while ACCESS’ widget service is used by NTT DOCOMO, Inc.
