- ACCESS Linux Platform™ Incorporates Sourcery G++ from CodeSourcery
LINUXWORLD CONFERENCE & EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO, CA – August 6, 2007 – ACCESS™ CO., LTD. today announced that components of CodeSourcery’s Sourcery G++™ for the ARM® architecture have been incorporated into the ACCESS Linux Platform™ Software and Product Development Kit (SDK) and (PDK). Sourcery G++ is a leading open source software development environment based on and containing the entire GNU Toolchain. The incorporation of Sourcery G++ into the ACCESS Linux Platform development kits assures licensees and third-party developers of a commercial-quality GNU toolchain yet still retains the transparency of open-source software. Through its use of the Sourcery G++ compiler, the ACCESS Linux Platform is compliant with the latest ABI for the ARM® Architecture — enabling broad access to incorporate third-party ABI-compliant libraries — and yet does not limit development with other compliant toolchains.
“ACCESS is committed to supporting open source solutions,” said Larry Berkin, senior director, developer ecosystem and technology acquisition with ACCESS. “The ACCESS Linux Platform combines open source Linux® components with proven ACCESS mobile technologies to provide an integrated, commercial-grade, Linux-based platform for handset and mobile device manufacturers, operators and developers. CodeSourcery’s open source Sourcery G++ development tools are an important part of this solution, and we are pleased to make them available to our licensees and developers.”
“We are excited to be working with ACCESS to provide high-quality, supported GNU development tools for the ACCESS Linux Platform,” said Mark Mitchell, chief sourcerer of CodeSourcery.“Our combined expertise and technology will enable ACCESS’ customers to deliver innovative mobile phones, converged mobile devices and applications.”
The ACCESS Developer Network has released the ACCESS Linux Platform Development Suite (SDK and Tools) that incorporates Sourcery G++ to independent developers participating in its Early ACCESS Program. The Early ACCESS Program provides qualified third-party developers access to pre-release technical and market development resources to accelerate innovation on ACCESS Linux Platform.
