ACCESS to Develop NetFront™ Browser v3.5 for 3G Handsets

  • Optimized for 3G mobile phones and converged devices

Tokyo, Japan, — February 8, 2007 — ACCESS CO., LTD. today debuted its plans for NetFront Browser v3.5, a 3G handset version of its popular NetFront Browser for consumer electronics. The Company expects NetFront Browser v3.5 to be available to customers this fall (2007).

To leverage and take advantage of the increased availability of Web 2.0 services for mobile devices, NetFront Browser v3.5 is being designed to facilitate the development of widgets, or virtual elements of graphical interfaces. New specifications are expected to make Asynchronous JavaScript + XML (Ajax) content for embedded devices easier to use and run smoother. NetFront Browser v3.5 will comply with the latest Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Browsing 2.3 specifications and provide enhanced support for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Tiny version 1.2 specifications for two-dimensional vector and mixed vector/raster graphics in XML. 

Building on NetFront Browser’s unique capabilities for making mobile handsets easier to use, this new version will feature the Smart Slider Menu, a short-cut bar on the display that enables one-touch access to frequently used functions, such as zooming. Other new features will include Smart Swing Navi, which enables intuitive scrolling of content in line with the flow of pictures captured with a handset’s camera, and Smart Page Viewmark, which enables smooth, optimized browsing by memorizing the view settings for each page, such as rendering mode and character size.

NetFront Browser v3.5 will be demonstrated at the ACCESS booth during the 3GSM World Congress 2007, the mobile industry’s biggest event, in Barcelona, Spain from February 12 to 15.

By using captured image of phone camera, use can scroll or zoom contents by tilting phone vertically and horizontally.
