Nintendo Taps ACCESS NetFront™Browser For Nintendo DS™ Game Software Development

ACCESS NetFront Browser to be part of middleware development tool Integration of web browser feature will enable game developers to add new features; reduce time-to-market

TOKYO, Japan – October 16, 2006 – ACCESS CO., LTD. (TSE:4813) today announced that Nintendo Co., Ltd. (TSE: 7974) has selected the ACCESS NetFront Browser as a middleware development tool for game software for the Nintendo DS mobile video game console. The delivery of the middleware tool for game software developers will begin immediately.

The ACCESS NetFront Browser is one of the most advanced, widely deployed and actively used Internet browsers in the world. It has been deployed in devices ranging from mobile phones and mobile handhelds to digital televisions, gaming consoles, and automobile telematics systems from over 90 major device manufacturers. The ACCESS NetFront Browser features the most comprehensive feature-set in the mobile phone and device market today.

New Features and Reduced Time-to-Market
Using the ACCESS NetFront Browser as a middleware development tool is expected to enable developers to quickly and easily create new games for Nintendo DS with browser functions.  Incorporating the ACCESS NetFront Browser into a middleware development tool also allows for the addition of a wide range of functions that utilize uploads to a server, such as the acquisition of items, obtaining data from a scoreboard, and participating in online games.

In addition, by using the ACCESS NetFront Browser, developers can now create games that activate the browser simultaneously with the start of the game. This feature can be used to create new types of services, such as sending user notifications of new updates or the latest list of the highest scores for that game.

“We are pleased that the ACCESS NetFront Browser has been selected by Nintendo as one of the middleware tools for the development of its game software,” said Toru Arakawa, CEO and co-founder, ACCESS. “We hope that this will be a start of a new usage of our browser in the game software market.  ACCESS will continue to support the development of products which answer the needs for a wide range of customers.”

The new middleware development tool for Nintendo game software developers is available now worldwide from Nintendo.
