ACCESS and Bouygues Telecom Cooperate to Deliver Advanced Mobile Technologies and Services

Cooperation to Facilitate and Optimize Bouygues Telecom’s i-modeTM Service on Existing and Future Networks

Cannes, France – 3GSM World Congress – February 16, 2005 – ACCESS Co., Ltd., (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a global provider of mobile content delivery and Internet access technologies has signed a cooperation agreement with Bouygues Telecom, a leading French mobile telecom company. Under the multi-year agreement, ACCESS and Bouygues Telecom will actively work together to deliver advanced mobile technologies for Bouygues Telecom’s i-mode service. The collaboration will also ensure the seamless deployment and evolution of new applications, handsets, services, and the optimization of i-mode services on existing and future mobile networks.

Within this cooperation, ACCESS and Bouygues Telecom are committed to the joint research and development of advanced mobile technologies and will work together to evaluate technology standards, market trends, and strategy as they apply to the i-mode service and the French mobile technology environment, including future joint trial projects. Together, both companies will also focus on the optimization of Bouygues Telecom’s i-mode services on its EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) network and the migration of these services to the 3G mobile network.

ACCESS is widely recognized as a worldwide leader in mobile technology and a key contributor to the initial development and current evolution of NTT DoCoMo’s i-mode service—the world’s first successful mobile data service. ACCESS developed Compact HTML, the language on which i-mode is based, and ACCESS supplied its Compact NetFrontbrowser and email client as primary technologies for i-mode’s initial launch in Japan. To date ACCESS NetFront technology is deployed in over 80% of i-mode handsets in Japan and nearly 100% of i-mode Global handsets throughout the world. ACCESS’ NetFront technology also holds near 100% market share for NTT DoCoMo’s advanced 3G FOMATM service available in Japan.

Bouygues Telecom launched i-mode mobile internet services in November 2002 with a lot of success. Over 1 million customers in France have signed up to this new technology, placing it as the fastest growing development, along a high usage of this service.

“ACCESS’history of innovation and leadership in the mobile market and its deep experience with i-mode makes it an obvious partner for the continued expansion of our own i-mode service here in France,” said Gilles Pélisson, CEO of Bouygues Telecom. “Bouygues Telecom has always been focused on providing the most innovative and useful mobile services to our customers, and our cooperation with ACCESS will help us to continue to deliver such innovations.”

“We’re delighted to cooperate with Bouygues Telecom to help it achieve continued market success with its i-mode service as well as to closely participate at the R&D level to help advance the technological evolution of the service,” said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS. “ACCESS has a long history as a key partner to NTT DoCoMo and its i-mode service in Japan, so we look forward to applying this knowledge and experience as we work with a leading mobile operator like Bouygues Telecom in the continued expansion of their i-mode service in France.”
