Nokia and ACCESS Collaborate on Advanced Browser Demonstration for 3G Multimedia Phones

ACCESS’ NetFrontBrowser Technology on Series 60 Platform Demonstrates New Mobile Media Experience for 3G Phones

Cannes, France – 3GSM World Congress – February 25, 2003 – ACCESS (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a global provider of mobile content delivery and Internet technologies, announced today that it has collaborated with Nokia to demonstrate ACCESS’ acclaimed NetFront mobile browser for WCDMA optimized releases of Nokia’s Series 60 Platform.

With a broad range of plug-in support, NetFront enables downloading and playing of popular content formats such as Real Media or MPEG4 movies, music, and SMIL packages. NetFront’s versatility makes it a perfect launch pad for multimedia and infotainment on the move.

“The media formats now commonplace on the Internet are essential to the smooth and content rich experience that smartphone users are eager for,” said Jukka Riivari, Director, Terminal Platform Sales, Nokia. “NetFront’s advanced Internet modules deliver on the promise that Series 60 licensees have sought for advanced media support and new levels of mobile Internet experience and once again show the ease of application development on Series 60 Platform.”

NetFront brings a host of new rendering technologies to the Series 60 Platform, including Smart-Fit Rendering, a technology that intelligently renders Web pages to screen widths of mobile devices and eliminates the need for horizontal scrolling, as well as Rapid-Render, a progressive display technology that dramatically speeds page rendering in mobile environments. NetFront supports all important Internet standards endorsed by the W3C and OMA.

“NetFront’s support for the widest range of Internet standards embodies the vision of truly converged media technologies,” said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO, ACCESS Co. Ltd. “We are pleased to partner with Nokia and Motorola SPS to help deliver the most advanced mobile Internet experience.”

The pre-integrated, pre-tested NetFront software supports seamless interaction between applications and helps mobile device makers introduce new models faster and at reduced costs.
