GSM Association Names ACCESS Finalist for Best Wireless Application Developer Award

Tokyo, Japan / Fremont, CA, USA / Oberhausen, Germany – February 13, 2003 – ACCESS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; president & CEO: Toru Arakawa; ACCESS below) announced that it has been nominated by the GSM Association as one of the five finalists in the Best Wireless Application Developer Category for the GSM Association Awards 2003, which is presented to honor outstanding hardware, software, infrastructure, service or unique PR activity in the field of wireless communication. A ceremony will be held on February 18th in Cannes, France as part of the 3GSM World Congress 2003, Europe’s largest world congress for wireless communication.

ACCESS was nominated for its browser, NetFrontv3.0 employed by a number of domestic and overseas manufactures and OS venders, incorporated into consumer information appliances such as mobile phones and PDAs. ACCESS’ candidacy is likewise nominated for its micro browser Compact NetFront Plus, embedded in overseas i-mode handsets.

ACCESS is the only Japanese company nominated as finalist in all categories of this year’s awards. At last year’s award ceremony, NTT DoCoMo was awarded the Chairman’s Award, as well as receiving Best Wireless Handset/Terminal or Handheld Device Award for its FOMA handset.

Throughout the event, ACCESS will occupy booth G39, Hall2, at the exposition, demonstrating its latest solutions.

The NetFront suite of browser technologies is embedded in almost 80 million devices spanning 191 different products including PDAs, game consoles, digital cameras, digital televisions, and mobile phones. ACCESS’ latest version of browser, NetFront v3.0 conforms to the latest W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards including CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and DHTML (Dynamic HTML) and to WAP 2.0 specification, which enables resource constrained, non-PC hardware to browse the Internet.
