ACCESS Systems America and Agilent Technologies Partner to Provide Next-Generation Wireless Testing Solution

End-to-End Testing Solution Accelerates Delivery of GPRS Data Services

Orlando, FL – CTIA Wireless 2002 – March 18, 2002 – ACCESS Systems America, a leading global provider of software and services for IP-based consumer electronics devices, and Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced a Channel Partner agreement to develop and deliver test solutions for next-generation mobile phones and wireless data services. The alliance integrates ACCESS’ IOT Suite [Inter-operability Testing Suite] and the Agilent 8960 (E5515C) wireless communications test set to deliver a comprehensive test strategy for wireless carriers and handset manufacturers. ACCESS Systems America will display the test solution in Booth 3327 at CTIA Wireless 2002, March 18-20.

The ACCESS and Agilent alliance provides wireless operators with an end-to-end test environment that validates network infrastructure, product functionality and service offerings prior to launch. Operators can test their entire system design from mobile handsets to application servers, gateways and other elements of the wireless data infrastructure, all without either a wireless LAN or a public network. Based on open IP standards, the test solution allows operators and other wireless vendors to significantly shorten the time-to-market for next-generation wireless products and services that will operate on high-speed GPRS networks.

“The roll-out of GPRS technology presents mobile manufacturers, operators, and application vendors with new and unique challenges for turning on a system and for maximizing network efficiency,” said George Sparks, vice president of Wireless Marketing Solutions for Agilent. “ACCESS’ advanced microbrowser and server technologies, combined with Agilent’s test and lab applications, set a new standard for testing GPRS mobiles, applications, and individual network components.”

“The IOT Suite integrated with Agilent’s RF [radio frequency] simulation technology, creates a level playing field for all client and server vendors developing next-generation technology for wireless carriers,” said Lars Stenstedt, vice president of Strategic Alliances, ACCESS Systems America. “Our alliance with Agilent again demonstrates our commitment to delivering open standards-based solutions for next-generation wireless services.”

This new agreement enables ACCESS and Agilent worldwide sales forces to work together to address the wireless testing needs of their customers. The companies will collaborate on joint marketing and sales programs to ensure the best testing solutions are provided.
