ACCESS Systems America To Demonstrate End-to-End Solutions for 2.5G and 3G Wireless Internet Services at CTIA Wireless 2002

Next-generation Wireless Technologies from Adobe, Agilent, Intel, and Texas Instruments will on Display at ACCESS’ Technology Pavilion

Orlando, FL – CTIA Wireless 2002 – March 18, 2002 – ACCESS Systems America, a leading provider of software and services for IP-based consumer electronics devices, today announced that it will demonstrate new, comprehensive, end-to-end 2.5G and 3G wireless Internet data solutions at CTIA Wireless 2002 in Orlando, March 18-20, 2002 (booth #3327). In addition, next-generation wireless technologies from Adobe Systems, Agilent Technologies, Intel, and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) will be on display at ACCESS’ Technology Pavilion. Demonstrated technologies represent solutions that stretch from the client to the server including solutions for testing and content creation.

At CTIA Wireless 2002 ACCESS will unveil its new Premium Content Subscription Server [PCSS], a key enabling component of the world’s first and only end-to-end offering that provides wireless carriers with a future-proof solution for 3G-like services within today’s 2.5G networks. PCSS provides wireless carriers with increased data traffic and Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) by establishing a profitable business model for content providers to create truly desirable wireless content. Wireless carriers generate revenue through premium third party content such as information pages, ring tones, graphics, Java applications and push services. Users can purchase this premium content on a subscription or pre-paid basis. PCSS uses standard Internet protocols, so it works with any handset without requiring proprietary and closed client software or gateways.

ACCESS will also demonstrate NetFront 3.0, a new microbrowser that raises the bar for embedded browser technologies. NetFront 3.0 is scalable, modular, and fully compliant with the latest W3C specifications, including WAP 2.0, HTML 4.01, cHTML (Compact HTML), HTTP Cookie, CSS1 and CSS2, JavaScript 1.5, DOM Level 1 and Level 2 and Dynamic HTML. NetFront also supports SSL v3.0/TLS 1.0 with 128-bit encryption, tab-browsing and on/offline browsing functions that enable five multi-windows displays. In addition, this multi-component embedded software solution enables resource-constrained products to deliver high performance and high functionality while maintaining low power consumption.

To facilitate the transition to next-generation wireless standards, ACCESS will also introduce its new Inter-operability Testing (IOT) Suite. The IOT Suite is a reference implementation of the end-to-end system used for rapid prototyping during system development, ongoing handset testing, ongoing server testing, and content provider guideline development.

In addition to demonstrating these new products, next-generation wireless technologies from Adobe Systems, Agilent Technologies, Intel, and TI will be on display at ACCESS’ Technology Pavilion. Adobe will demonstrate its Adobe GoLive 6.0 web-authoring tool with i-mode homepage viewer function. Agilent will display its 8960 (E5515C) wireless communications test set that is compatible with ACCESS’ IOT Suite. Also demonstrated will be the integration of ACCESS’ embedded browser software on the Intel® PXA250 applications processor. In addition, TI is showcasing its OMAP 1510 wireless application processor with ACCESS’ microbrowser.

“ACCESS recognizes that the next stage in the wireless communications evolution is data—data delivered within a proven and profitable revenue-sharing business model,” said Chung Liu, CTO and vice president of engineering for ACCESS Systems America, Inc. “ACCESS’ PCSS solution is our answer for allowing carriers to capitalize on this trend and CTIA, the world’s largest wireless event, is the perfect venue for debuting this technology.”

“We are very excited to demonstrate our innovative solutions for next-generation wireless services with these market-leading partners at CTIA,” said Kiyo Oishi, president and COO for ACCESS Systems America. “The support of companies like Adobe, Agilent, Intel, and TI prove that the US market is finally ready for next-generation wireless software and services.”
