Comverse And ACCESS Join Forces To Provide A Single Device Multi-Protocol Mobile Internet Solution

Network Operators Will Be Able to Offer A Multi-Protocol Solution To Access CHTML, WAP And XHTML Basic Wireless Internet Applications

ATLANTA, GA – June 4, 2001 – Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world’s leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, today announced a collaboration with ACCESS Co., Ltd., a leading provider of embedded Internet software solutions, that will enable mobile carriers to deliver the mobile Internet on a single device that supports Compact HTML (CHTML), XHTML-Basic and wireless application protocol (WAP).

With this joint solution, mobile subscribers have the ability to access advanced wireless services based on CHTML, XHTML-Basic and WAP via a single wireless device, such as a mobile phone or a PDA. This solution enhances wireless operators’ service offerings, while enabling consumers around the world to experience the mobile Internet based on today’s popular protocols.

The joint solution combines the ACCESS Compact NetFrontPlus micro browser and Comverse’s router-based wireless Internet gateway, Mega.flow. The solution supports CHTML, XHTML-Basic and WAP protocols, as well as optimizes service with load balancing, access control, billing, management and class of service support. The Comverse mobile Internet solution offers carriers a personalized interface for corporate and consumer users. The comprehensive solution allows subscribers to access the mobile Internet based on the industry’s most popular protocols on a single device.
