Paris, France & Oberhausen, Germany, – 11 September, 2013 – ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets today announced that the ACCESS IBC stand (14.101) will host a demo of an innovation developed jointly with Alcatel-Lucent which enables operators to deliver a seamless, unified TV experience through the cloud, including content sharing across all devices via a centralized HTML5 Remote User Interface (RUI). The proof-of-concept solution is based on the DLNA Premium Video Guidelines and can be extended to any device, including tablets and smartphones, reducing the time and complexity of integration with OTT video solutions.

The IBC demo follows the integration of ACCESS’ NetFront™ Living Connect DLNA-based media sharing and ACCESS™ MediaPilot client solutions with Alcatel-Lucent’s Velocix CDN technology.

Paul Larbey, Vice President and General Manager of Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Video business, said: “Our industry leading CDN solution, Velocix, solves the issue of getting content into the home with the highest quality. By combining our content delivery technology with ACCESS’ media sharing solutions, service providers can offer consumers access to content on more devices without the need for complex infrastructure changes. This is crucial given the continued explosion of consumer uptake of multiple devices in the home.”

The Alcatel-Lucent Velocix CDN is designed for service providers and used successfully by many around the world. This on-net solution leverages network intelligence and subscriber data to turn the network into a high-performance digital media delivery platform. With the Velocix CDN service providers can:

  • Satisfy consumers and content providers by delivering a superior QoE
  • Reduce transit, storage and transport costs by delivering multi-source content from within the network
  • Increase revenue and partnership potential by securely delivering personalized TV and video service to any connected device
  • Expand reach by supporting more streaming and delivery mechanisms

“The CDN is a critical tool in enabling operators to deliver high quality IP video experiences to their consumers,” said Dr. Neale Foster, VP of Global Sales IA, ACCESS. “The joint IBC demo will show how the Alcatel-Lucent Velocix CDN together with ACCESS’ media sharing solution and ACCESS MediaPilot client enables operators to reach connected devices such as mobiles and tablets throughout the home.
