Antique Collectors’ Club new artBooks iPad app offers a wide selection of high quality illustrated art eBooks

New York, NY, and Sunnyvale, California, – April 15, 2013 – Antique Collectors’ Club announced today the release of the artBooks by ACC iPad® app, which will give access to a wide selection of enhanced eBooks on subjects including antiques, art, design, fashion, and photography.

Antique Collectors’ Club critically acclaimed books, such as Jackson’s Hallmarks, Persian Rugs and Carpets, and the Design Series have long been established as standard works of reference. These books will now be available for the first time for readers in a dedicated app in the Apple App Store. The artBooks by ACC app features beautifully designed eBook titles that are packed with large high-resolution photos and illustrations.

“When ACC was founded in 1966 it pioneered ideas such as The Price Guide to Antique Furniture. Today, many of the original books from those days have become standard works of reference and are still in print in revised and updated editions” said James Smith, Sales Director, Antique Collectors’ Club. “It makes perfect sense that, where possible, ACC looks to release those books in a digital format. Auctioneer catalogues have gone digital, therefore why shouldn’t art books go the same way? As we did years ago, it’s exciting to be leading the way.”

The artBooks by ACC app features the inclusion of hipix® technology in select titles for compression and enhanced-resolution image viewing at unparalleled quality. For the app launch, the hipix® technology is included in the Persian Rugs and Carpets and A Front Row Seat titles.

“The mobile eBook market has never been able to match the quality of print for high resolution photos without inflating file size beyond reason,” said Ira Dvir, Founder, Human Monitoring Ltd. “The hipix® technology enables compressing images to a fraction of the file size, while supporting practically unlimited photo resolutions for zooming into the most minute detail.”

The app’s digital storefront allows users to browse for titles by subject category or keyword search. The in-app virtual bookshelf allows users to quickly access previously purchased titles in one convenient location. This digital storefront is powered by the ACCESS Digital Publishing Ecosystem from ACCESS CO LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets.

“With the ACCESSTM Digital Publishing Ecosystem, Antique Collectors’ Club can offer enhanced digital publications for the iPad that can be easily discovered by loyal and new readers alike,” said Kiyoyasu Oishi, Senior Executive Officer, Global Business Unit, ACCESS CO., LTD. “The combination of ACCESS and the hipix® technology gives publishers the solution required for delivering high quality enhanced eBooks at a fraction of the file size.”
