Oberhausen, Germany, − September 4 2012 − ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software solutions to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that Abox42 has chosen ACCESS’ NetFront™ Living Connect to provide media sharing capabilities for the new Abox42 OTT & IPTV set top box (STB) line. The integration of NetFront Living Connect into the market proven Abox42 B12 platform as well as the newly launched Abox42 “M12”, enables broadcast and OTT operators to provide consumers with advanced and effortless media sharing features, turning existing TVs into Smart TVs.

The ACCESS solution for the Abox42 OTT & IPTV set top box product line includes an Android application for smartphones and tablets that enables control of the set top box and simplifies sharing content around the home. The solution will be launched and demonstrated at IBC on the Abox42 (14.352) and ACCESS (14.103) stands.

“This Abox42 powered solution is a great way for operators to evolve to a Smart TV, OTT and media sharing experience without the consumer needing to buy the latest generation of connected TV and better yet, operators don’t have to upgrade or replace any existing set-top boxes,” said Dr. Neale Foster, VP of Global Sales IA, ACCESS.

The video rendering functionality of the Abox42 B12 and M12 STBs combines with ACCESS’ NetFront Living Connect DLNA media sharing solution to enable operators to provide consumers with the ability to push content from connected devices such as media servers and NAS drives to the TV. NetFront Living Connect is the market-leading DLNA Technology Component™ solution for multi-screen media sharing on consumer electronics and home networks.

“With the multiscreen and Smart TV revolutions continuing to accelerate, it’s our belief that the only operators that will be successful will be those that combine great content with the 21st Century experiences that consumers now expect,” said Oliver Soellner, Vice President Business Development of ABox42. “That’s why we’ve worked with ACCESS, the leader in multiscreen, to make sure that our OTT & IPTV STB platforms enable operators to cost-effectively deploy their OTT services with advanced media sharing on all current TVs.”
