ACCESS’ Integrated HbbTV/BBC iPlayer/DLNA Solution Helps HDI Dune Push the Connected TV Innovation Envelope

Oberhausen, Germany, – May 4, 2011 – ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that HDI Dune, the Blu-ray player and set-top box manufacturer, has selected ACCESS’ market-leading HbbTV, BBC iPlayer, DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and widgets software solutions, to power its connected TV devices.

HDI Dune will implement ACCESS’ NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition, NetFront Browser DTV Profile BBC iPlayer Editon, NetFront Widgets and Netfront Living Connect 2.0 DLNA Technology Component. The software solutions will be combined into one binary to ensure full integration. HDI Dune’s ACCESS powered connected TV devices will be available to customers in the third quarter of 2011.

ACCESS’ NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition and its BBC iPlayer Edition are both platform-independent software solutions, which will allow HDI Dune to deploy HbbTV and BBC iPlayer capable devices quickly and affordably. ACCESS’ NetFront Living Connect 2.0 DLNA Technology Component is currently the only DLNA software solution that supports features such as Remote User Interface (RUI) and Scheduled Recording Service (SRS) that anticipate future DLNA guidelines. The selection of NetFront Widgets offers HDI Dune the ability to create an Internet widget system through which service providers can deliver high-value Web 2.0 services such as weather, stocks or social networking to customers.
