ACCESS NetFront™ Deployments Surpass 800 Million Worldwide

Tokyo, – September 9, 2009 – ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile and beyond-PC markets, today announced that worldwide deployments of its NetFront products, notably NetFront Browser for mobile handsets and Internet-enabled devices, surpassed 800 million at the end of July 2009. NetFront Browser is the flagship product in ACCESS’ series of NetFront technologies. Growth in deployments of NetFront Browser on mobile handsets shipped to global markets has been credited with driving NetFront product installations past the 800 million mark.

NetFront Browser is the most advanced, versatile and powerful full Internet browser for mobile and beyond-PC devices. Specifically designed and optimized to deliver high performance in resource-constrained environments, it has been deployed by major operators, handset manufacturers and consumer electronics manufacturers around the world. Recently, the latest version of NetFront Browser, NetFront Browser v3.5, has been deployed on the CoolPAD 3G handset from Yulong Telecommunication—China’s top 3G domestic brand. 3G services were launched in China earlier this year, and are expected to accelerate the number of mobile users. According to Thinkbank, a Beijing-based market research firm, the number of 3G phone shipments in China almost doubled in the June-July 2009 timeframe※1. NetFront Browser v3.5 has been also deployed on Toshiba Corporation’s TG01 smartphone, a slim, high-performance multimedia handset targeted at global markets.

According to an analysis concluded in February 2009 of devices offered by top-tier operators and device ownership data from comScore’s MobiLens research※2, NetFront Browser is the standard browser shipped on more handset models in the U.S. and through multi-country operators in the top five European markets (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain) than any other mobile Internet browser.

“For over 20 years, ACCESS has helped operators, handset manufacturers and consumer electronics manufacturers implement groundbreaking services with its leading-edge mobile technologies and solutions for global markets,” said Tomihisa Kamada, president, Co-CEO and co-founder of ACCESS. “ACCESS will continue to lead the way to a ubiquitous Internet society where networked devices make possible more fulfilling digital lifestyles around the world.”
