ACCESS NetFront™ Browser Named Best Mobile Browser

NetFront Surpasses Opera and ThunderHawk to Win Third Consecutive Best Software Award from Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine

SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 2, 2006 – ACCESS CO., LTD., (TSE:4813) today announced that for the third consecutive year, the ACCESS NetFront Browser has been selected as the best mobile browser by Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine. ACCESS’ NetFront Browser v3.3 for Pocket PC with JV-Lite 2 was nominated to compete against nine other products – including Opera 8.6 and ThunderHawk 2.0 – in the Internet Browsers and Web Utilities category for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices.

“Each year there is stiff competition for our awards, and it is very difficult to win the distinction of outstanding software year after year,” said Hal Goldstein, executive editor and publisher of Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine. “The companies are nominated by Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, our readers and an international panel of 90 judges representing authors, journalists and information technology experts who later vote on the nominations. These judges each spent more than 1,000 hours evaluating the software,” Goldstein noted.

The judges for the Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine’s 2006 Best Software Awards lauded ACCESS’ NetFront Browser for its fast browsing modes, tabbed browsing, VGA support, page rendering capabilities and Java and Flash support, which one judge said, “makes it perform like a desktop Internet browser.” Another judge commented that NetFront sports many of the “things” that Pocket Internet Explorer lacks.

ACCESS’ NetFront Browser continues to be the browser of choice for the world’s leading mobile handset manufacturers and mobile operators. Featuring a number of unique technologies, ACCESS’ NetFront Browser has been designed to enable a rich and robust mobile Internet browsing experience.

One such technology, Rapid-Render, is a sophisticated incremental rendering technology that dramatically accelerates the presentation of Web pages. Another, known as Smart-Fit Rendering, is a technology that intelligently renders Web pages to fit the screen width of mobile devices, thus eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling. The NetFront Browser supports the OMA Browsing 2.2 specification, WML, HTML 4.01, and cHTML standards. In addition, NetFront v3.3 for Pocket PC features JV-Lite2, a Java platform developed by ACCESS for both mobile devices and Internet appliances that supports the latest standard Java specifications. The JV-Lite2 platform includes a Java virtual machine (JVM) developed and provided by Sun Microsystems.

“It is an honor to win this coveted award for the third year in a row,” said Toru Arakawa, CEO and co-founder of ACCESS. “Our focus from day one has been to provide the best possible mobile browsing experience with NetFront across all platforms. Extensive research and development go into each new browser release to meet increasingly sophisticated market demands so we consider this a tremendous validation of our efforts.”
