ACCESS’ NetFront™ Browser Surpasses 100 Million Deployments Worldwide

Market Success Validates ACCESS’ Vision of Coming Pervasive Internet

Geneva, Switzerland – October 15, 2003 – ACCESS (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a global provider of mobile content delivery and access technologies, announced today that its NetFront browser has surpassed 100 million deployments worldwide.

NetFront now stands as the most widely deployed and actively used browser in the beyond-PC market, supporting more OS platforms and devices than any competing browser in the market. NetFront’s success throughout the world validates ACCESS’ vision of a coming pervasive Internet where information will not be limited by distance, time, location, or device.

ACCESS is a mobile Internet pioneer, having helped to define and develop the Compact HTML protocol for NTT DoCoMo’s wildly successful i-mode service. NetFront enjoys over 80% market share of the i-mode browser market and a full 100% market share of NTT DoCoMo’s 3G FOMA service, the first 3G service launched anywhere in the world.

NetFront technology has been deployed in Internet solutions from many of the world’s leading technology companies including Adobe, Alpine, AT&T Wireless, China Mobile, China Unicom, Handspring, Hutchinson 3G Group, IBM, KDDI, NEC, NTT DoCoMo, PalmSource, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and more.

ACCESS CEO and President, Toru Arakawa stated, “I’m excited to see NetFront reach 100 Million worldwide deployments. From the very beginning, our goal has been to develop Internet technologies that enable access from any device and location. This deployment milestone is a clear validation that our efforts are succeeding.”

NetFront is a modular, scalable, feature-rich embedded browser that supports a wide variety of beyond-PC Internet devices including mobile phones, handhelds, automobile telematics systems, digital televisions and more. As the only browser that supports Palm OS, Windows Mobile OS, Linux OS, Symbian OS as well as mobile environments like BREW, NetFront is also the most platform independent browser technology on the market. NetFront offers the most comprehensive feature set available in the market, including support for WAP2.0 as well as the latest W3C specifications while offering unique technologies like Smart-Fit that intelligently formats Web pages to fit the horizontal width of mobile screens. Smart-Fit is a significant technological advance delivering on the promise of the mobile Internet.
