ACCESS NetFront™ Browser Technology Powers High-End Palm Tungsten C

NetFront Provides Unmatched Enterprise-Class Capabilities for Palm’s Newest Handheld

Tokyo, Japan / Fremont, CA, USA – September 25, 2003 – ACCESS (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a global provider of mobile content delivery and access technologies, announced today that its NetFront® v3.0 is the core browser technology for PalmSource’s Palm browser included in Palm’s Tungsten C, the latest and most powerful multimedia handheld computer from Palm to date.

NetFront v3.0 technology provides support for advanced Internet standards like HTML 4.01, XHTML, CSS, DOM, and ECMAScript, ensuring Tungsten C users a rich and powerful mobile browsing experience that is further enhanced by the Tungsten C’s advanced 400 MHz processor, built-in, high-speed WiFi, and expanded memory. NetFront is an independent client device solution that does not rely on a proxy server to process data for display, providing mobile professionals with seamless access to Internet or intranet data and web-based enterprise applications.

The use of NetFront browser technology in the Palm browser for Tungsten C represents the continued success of ACCESS’ alliance with PalmSource Inc., the Palm OS subsidiary of Palm. NetFront browser technology has already been deployed in several other Palm OS 5 devices, including Handspring’s Treo 600 and Sony’s UX50 CLIÉ.

“We’re extremely happy with the progress ACCESS and PalmSource are making toward the joint development and widespread deployment of state-of-the-art browser technology,” said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS. “The inclusion of NetFront technology in the Palm Tungsten C provides Palm with a significant competitive advantage and ensures Palm users the best possible mobile Internet experience.”

NetFront v3.0 is the latest version of the most widely deployed and actively used embedded Web browser in the world. NetFront is a modular, scalable, feature-rich, WAP 2.0-compliant embedded browser that supports a wide variety of non-PC Internet devices ranging from mobile phones and handhelds to automobile telematics systems. NetFront is the only mobile browser in the world that supports Palm OS, Windows Mobile OS, Linux OS and Symbian OS as well as mobile environments like BREW.

Palm Tungsten C handhelds with the NetFront browser technology are available through retailers and The Palm Store (http://store.palm.com). Tungsten C users can take advantage of the 3,400 hotspots in hotels, airports, cafes and parks that have sprung up in the United States alone. Wi-Fi has rapidly become a popular standard for professionals who need wireless high-bandwidth Internet access while at home or away from the office on business.
