Online Sales Commence for ACCESS’ NetFront™ v3.0 for Series 60 Internet Browser for Nokia Smart Phones

Tokyo, Japan / Fremont, CA, USA / Oberhausen, Germany – April 24, 2003 – ACCESS Co. Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4813), a leading supplier of embedded software for mobile telephones, PDAs, Internet appliances, car navigation systems and other non-PC devices, and its European subsidiary, ACCESS Systems Europe GmbH, announced commencement of online sales of NetFront v3.0 for Series 60, an Internet browser tailor-made for Nokia 7650, Nokia 3650 and other Nokia Series 60 platform Smart Phones. The NetFront Internet browser will be available for purchase from Nokia’s Software Market (http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com) in May.

Free evaluation versions of the NetFront Internet browser have been available from ACCESS Systems Europe GmbH website (http://www.access-sys-eu.com) since February 18, 2003. Over 3200 users have utilized this evaluation version for Series 60 based phones, providing valuable feedback for product improvements and additional features.

The NetFront family of browsers is embedded in almost 86 million devices spanning 230 different product lines (as of February 2003) including PDAs, game consoles, digital cameras, digital televisions, and mobile phones. ACCESS’ NetFront v3.0 browser conforms to the latest W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards including CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), DHTML (Dynamic HTML) and also to the WAP 2.0 specification, which enables resource constrained, non-PC hardware to browse the Internet. PDAs, including Zaurus SL-A300/B500/C700 produced by Sharp, CLIE PEG-NX70V/NX60/NZ90 produced by Sony, and Sanyo’s SCP-4900/5300 for Sprint also have ACCESS browsers pre-installed. Other NetFront browsers available to end-users include NetFront v3.0 for PocketPC, a browser specially designed for PocketPC devices.

NetFront v3.0 for Series 60 smart phones features numerous functions such as automatic just-fit rendering and zoom, which greatly enhance the user experience for mobile data services on Symbian OS/Nokia Series 60 devices.
