- ACCESS to Provide Advanced Embedded Software Solution for Intel’s Newest Applications Processors
TOKYO, JAPAN/FREMONT, CA – February 26, 2002 – ACCESS Co., Ltd., a leading global provider of software and services for IP-based consumer electronics devices, today announced that it will provide an embedded software solution for the Intel® PXA 250 and Intel® PXA 210 applications processors based on the Intel® XScale™ microarchitecture.
The software solution includes uMore™, a uITRON-based real-time OS, the NetFront® microbrowser for intelligent home appliances, AVE™-TCPTM, a TCP/IP protocol stack which supports the IPv6 standard, and AVETM-File, a file system for embedded applications. This multi-component embedded software solution enables resource-constrained products to deliver high performance and high functionality while maintaining low-power consumption. This is an optimum solution that is available for a wide variety of Internet devices ranging from PDAs to cellular phones.
ACCESS’ software solution will be demonstrated for the first time outside of Japan at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, CA, February 25-28, 2002.

The Intel PXA250 and Intel PXA210 applications processors will enable the ability to deliver richer music, movies and games as well as many of the latest applications being developed for the workplace. The new processors complement the Intel® StrongARM* SA-1110 applications processors, the leading platform for Pocket PC devices today, and set the stage for a new class of high-performance, low-power wireless communications devices.
NetFront® is one of the world’s most popular embedded Internet browsers and was designed from the ground up for consumer information appliances. Since its introduction in 1995, more than 53 million commercial-license copies of NetFront® and its micro version, Compact NetFront® have been shipped for use in over 150 different consumer information appliances. Among these appliances are Internet TVs, PDAs, set top boxes, car navigation systems (telematics), smart phones, web/screen phones, vertical intranet terminals, video game consoles, word processing machines and Internet kiosks. NetFront® provides the key advantages of high portability, flexible UI customization, and high performance within limited CPU/memory resources.
AVE-TCP is one of the industry’s first TCP/IP protocol stacks to support the next-generation IPv6 standard. AVE-File is a file system for embedded applications that enables dedicated equipment such as fax-machines, printers and other OA equipment, digital cameras, potable music players, car audios, automatic vending machines and telephones to store data and/or exchange data with PCs. It supports SD card and Flash memory as well as FAT12, 16, 32, VFAT.
uMore v4.0 is an ITRON 4.0-compliant real-time OS for the next generation of mobile devices. Utilizing a CPU’s power-saving function, the uMore OS optimizes an appliance’s limited resources to allow for high performance and high functionality while using low power consumption.
