JV Lite™2 Wireless Profile Supports MIDP, offering a Complete Java Runtime Environment for Wireless Devices
The Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP), combined with the Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC), is the Java runtime environment for today's mobile information devices (MIDs) such as phones and entry-level PDAs. What MIDP provides is the core application functionality required by mobile applications - including the user interface, network connectivity, local data storage, and application lifecycle management - packaged as a standardized Java runtime environment and set of Java APIs.
The MIDP specification has been defined through the Java Community Process Program. It defines a platform for dynamically and securely delivering highly graphical, networked applications to mobile information devices.
Functions and Features
ACCESS JV-Lite2 Wireless Profile is an optimized MIDP 2.0 compatible.
- High-level user interface API with strong functionality includes predefined screens
- Ideal for building portal games and multimedia applications
- Extensive connectivity enables developers to fully leverage the native data network and messaging capabilities of mobile devices

JV-Lite2 Wireless Profile supports advanced game extensions.
CLDC API Support
CLDC defines the bare minimum APIs required for CLDC’s Java VM. Profiles, such as MIDP and DoJa, are built over this CLDC API and CLDC extends system APIs such as graphics, sound, I/O, and network. The CLDC class library consists of the subset of the standard JDK 1.1 class library and the I/O-related, CLDC class library designed for embedded devices. (For complete details on each API, please refer to each specification of CLDC.)
Java Application Manager (JAM)
Java Application Manager (JAM) is a mechanism that controls the Java application. The JAM specification is highly dependent on the target environment and is independent of each Java specification.
JV-Lite2 implements JAM in accordance with each definition of MIDP and DoJa. MIDP complies with the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 specification and DoJa complies with i-mode™ Java Content Developer’s Guide – API Reference Release 1.1.
- Judging Profile
- Analyzing ADF (application description file)
- Updating Application
- Listing Application
- Executing Application
- Support of TCK
JAM also manages Jar files, the Java application and ADF archive files that store the Java application information. JAM also controls the Java VM.
