Open the product information dialog (Main Menu => Tools => Control Panel => About Product).

How do I install the software?
|
|
|
Before installing Garnet VM, make sure that you have enough free memory on your device. During the installation process you will need at least 20 MB of memory.
From a different computer:
Copy the installation package on an SD card.
Insert the SD card in the Nokia Internet Tablet.
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open the application manager (Main Menu => Tools => Application Manager).
In the application manager menu, select Application => Install from file.
In the left pane, select Removable memory card.
In the right pane, tap on installation package and hit the select button.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
From the Nokia Internet Tablet:
Open the Internet browser and go to this page: www.access-company.com/products/gvm
Hit the download button for your Nokia Internet Tablet.
Fill the form and hit the Submit Form button.
Check your e-mails and open the received link in the Internet Browser.
Read the End User License Agreement.
Hit the Download Now button.
In the File Download window, hit the Open button.
In the Install window, hit the Ok button.
Follow the instructions on the screen.

How do I uninstall the software?

Before uninstalling Garnet VM, make sure that you've performed a HotSync to back up your Garnet VM storage.
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open the application manager (Main Menu => Tools => Application Manager).
Tap on Show installed applications.
Tap on Garnet VM in the application list.
Hit the Uninstall button.
Follow the instructions on the screen.

How do I install an application on Garnet VM?

On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open Garnet VM Launcher (Main Menu => Extras => Garnet VM)
Tap on the Install button.
In the left pane, select Removable memory card.
In the right pane, tap on the application file and hit the select button. (If the application is composed of several files, repeat these steps for each file.)
Once the application installation is completed, select the application in the Garnet VM Launcher and hit the Launch button.

How do I perform a HotSync operation?
|

|
To perform a HotSync operation, make sure that your PC and the Nokia Internet Tablet can be connected over TCP IP (same IP address range or public IP addresses). Note that the Network HotSync feature is not supported on Mac OS.
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open Garnet VM Launcher (Main Menu => Extras => Garnet VM)
Hit the HotSync button.
Enter the PC hostname or IP address.
Hit the Start HotSync button.

How can I increase the size of Garnet VM's storage?
|
|
|
Before modifying the size of Garnet VM storage, make sure that you've performed a HotSync to back up your files.
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open Garnet VM Launcher (Main Menu => Extras => Garnet VM).
Open the Settings dialog.
In the Storage heap section, select the needed storage size.
Hit the Save button.

How can I change Garnet VM's screen orientation to landscape mode?
|
|
|
Garnet VM can be executed either in portrait mode or in landscape mode (full screen).
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open Garnet VM Launcher (Main Menu => Extras => Garnet VM).
Open the Settings dialog.
In the Display section, check the Fullscreen option.
Hit the Save button.
The next time that you launch a Garnet OS application it will be displayed in landscape mode. Note that to come back to the Nokia Internet Tablet environment you must press the Back hardware button.

I have enough free memory on my device but I can't install a new Garnet OS application, what's wrong?
|

|
Application installation generally fails when the Garnet VM storage is full. To resolve this issue you can either free some memory by uninstalling application from Garnet VM or you can increase the Garnet VM's storage size. (See Configuration section.)

I installed a Garnet OS application but I can't launch it. What can I do?
|
|
|
Application execution generally fails when default configuration parameters are inappropriate. Depending on the application you will have to either increase the memory for application execution and/or specify the device model that the application is supposed to be executed on.
Increase the dynamic memory
Open Garnet VM Launcher (Main Menu => Extras => Garnet VM).
Select the application in the application list.
Hit the Configure button.
Choose a higher value in the Dynamic heap size drop down menu.
Hit the Save button.
Hit the Launch button to execute the application.
Repeat these steps if the application does not launched.
Change the device model
Open Garnet VM Launcher (Main Menu => Extras => Garnet VM).
Select the application in the application list.
Hit the Configure button.
Choose the appropriate device in the Device Model drop down menu.
Hit the Save button.
Hit the Launch button to execute the application.

The HotSync operation is successful, but nothing shows up in the Address, Date Book, Memo...etc. What is going on?
|

There are some compatibility issues with old HotSync accounts, the following procedure shows how to synchronize your data.
On the PC
Create a new HotSync account (Tools Menu => Users, Press New).
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open Garnet VM Launcher.
Open the Settings dialog.
Hit the Reformat storage button. Warning: all the data in GVM will be lost.
Hit the Save button.
In the Garnet VM Launcher, hit the HotSync button.
Wait for the HotSync operation to complete.
On the PC
Select your old user account.
Export the data associated with each applications (File Menu => Export)
Select the new account.
Import all the data you exported previously.
On the Nokia Internet Tablet
Open Garnet VM Launcher.
In the Garnet VM Launcher, hit the HotSync button.
Wait for the HotSync operation to complete.
All your data should now be synchronized.

I installed Garnet VM on my Nokia N770 and I have no sound. What can I do?
|
|
|
Garnet VM needs a specific set of libraries to operate. Unfortunately the Nokia N770's operating system does not provide the required library for sound support.
