ACCESS and HyperPanel Lab Power First HbbTV Pilot Services in France for Normandie TV
- Deployed Set-Top-Boxes Feature HyperPanel Lab HbbTV Solution with ACCESS NetFront™ Browser DTV Profile
Oberhausen, Germany, April 14, 2011 — ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of
advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today
announced that HyperPanel Lab’s HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) solution,
including ACCESS’ NetFront™ Browser DTV Profile, has been selected by Normandie TV
for its HbbTV pilot services. Normandie TV is the first French broadcaster to carry HbbTV
services over digital terrestrial and chose HyperPanel Lab and ACCESS powered HbbTV
terrestrial set-top boxes for such pilot services.
The HyperPanel Lab and ACCESS powered HbbTV set-top boxes have already shown
extraordinary performance. The set-top boxes will provide Normandie TV subscribers with
additional services, e.g. access to local information such as news and weather from their
television sets.
“We’re delighted that Normandie TV has chosen our HbbTV solution to power its HbbTV
pilot services, the first live stream that carries HbbTV service in France,” said Laoreato
Santonastasi, CEO of HyperPanel Lab. “The combination of HyperPanel Lab and ACCESS
technology has created a HbbTV solution that provides our customers and consumers with
the best in advanced TV solutions.”
HyperPanel Lab’s HbbTV solution integrates ACCESS’ NetFront Browser DTV Profile
HbbTV Edition with HyperPanel Lab’s Vmos embedded operating system. This creates
a solution that supports the presentation of web pages and services using broadcast and
broadband connections. Both HyperPanel Lab and ACCESS are specified as HbbTV
approved vendors as the company’s solutions comply with the unified European HbbTV
standard. This enables the simultaneous use of broadcasted video (DVB) and broadband
(Internet), and provides consumers with access to live broadcasting, video content and
interactive services in a smooth, uniform and consistent manner.
“Normandie TV’s HbbTV offering is just the beginning of what’s set to be the rapid
growth of HbbTV in 2011 throughout Europe,” said Dr Neale Foster, VP of global sales,
IA, at ACCESS. “We’re delighted that Normandie TV has seen the benefits of the high-
performance, user-centric ACCESS NetFront Browser DTV Profile, as part of HyperPanel
Lab’s HbbTV solution, and has chosen it to power its HbbTV services.”
