Developer Documentation Documentation Sets ACCESS provides exclusive documentation sets for developers of Garnet OS® applications. Documentation sets include:
Garnet OS 68K SDK Documentation Garnet OS applications have traditionally been developed using the 68K APIs. Applications developed with the 68K APIs can run on all versions of Garnet OS. The early versions of Garnet OS, Garnet OS 1 through Garnet OS 4, run on handhelds with 68K-family processors. 68K applications run natively on these devices. Garnet OS (the Garnet OS 5 releases) is designed for handhelds with ARM-based processors. It includes PACE—the Palm OS Application Compatibility Environment—which enables 68K applications to run on other Garnet OS versions as well. Note that on ARM-based ACCESS Powered™ devices, you can also employ PNOs (PACE Native Objects) to speed up time-critical portions of your application. The 68K APIs are documented in the Palm OS Programmer's Companion and the Palm OS Programmer's API Reference. The 68K Library of documentation is designed for 68K application developers. You can use Garnet OS Development Suite to develop 68K applications. The Garnet OS Development Suite Library of documentation explains how to use Development Suite. To develop conduits that synchronize with 68K applications, use CDK 6.0.1 for Windows or CDK 4.03 for Macintosh. Be sure to test your conduit with all versions of Palm Desktop that you want to support, because HotSync® Manager 6.0.1 includes features not available in earlier versions. |
